FREE TOOL / FRAME DELIVERY

FPS. Frame time.
Understand the connection.

Convert a frame rate into its time budget. Compare an interval with your target. No account or download required.

Calculate a frame interval

Enter 0.1–10,000 using a decimal point, without units. These are calculator input limits, not hardware limits.

Try a frame rate

EQUAL-INTERVAL TIME BUDGET

8.333ms / frame

120 frames per second corresponds to 8.333 milliseconds for each equally spaced frame.

1,000 ÷ FPS = ms per frame

Illustration of equal frame intervals. Not a recording of your game. Six intervals total 50 ms.

COMPARE WITH A TARGET

How much time does a frame have?

Enter a frame interval from your own data. Use a timing interval, not GPU work duration or input latency.

Use decimal numbers from 0.1–10,000. No capture or file upload is performed.

THE NUMBER IS ONLY THE START

Same average.
Different pacing.

Two equal intervals of 20 ms and two uneven intervals of 5 ms and 35 ms each total 40 ms. Both examples have an aggregate rate of 50 FPS, but the frames are spaced differently.

These are invented arithmetic examples, not game measurements. A single FPS value cannot establish stutter, 1% lows, input latency or a CPU/GPU bottleneck.

Sources and calculation limits

The calculation is 1,000 ÷ FPS = milliseconds per equal frame interval. The reverse is 1,000 ÷ an interval in milliseconds. For a sequence of contiguous intervals, aggregate FPS is frame count divided by total elapsed seconds; averaging the reciprocal of every interval gives a different statistic.

Keep the meaning of your original metric: a presentation interval, GPU duration and input latency are different quantities. Rendered and displayed frame rates can also differ with frame generation. This tool calculates arithmetic; it does not test hardware, detect window modes, measure refresh rate or recommend a performance upgrade.
